Edison Terrace West, an affordable independent living facility for seniors 62 and older, is scheduled to open June 1, 2008 and is now accepting applications. Located at 520 North Edison Street, in Kennewick, Washington, the project will offer 44 federally subsidized one-bedroom apartments.

Sponsored by SEC Affordable Housing, the property is for occupants with annual incomes below 50 percent of the area median income. With the rental assistance from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, qualified occupants will only be required to pay 30 percent of their adjusted gross income as rent. “Edison Terrace West gives low-income seniors a clean and safe place to live, that might not otherwise be available to them,” stated property manager Kim Conway, of Goodale & Barbieri Company, the managing and leasing company.

Edison Terrace West is expected to not only draw residents from the Tri-Cities and surrounding counties but qualifying individuals across the state. “Housing like Edison Terrace West is in high demand throughout our region, and we have already experienced a high level of interest from individuals across the State,” stated Conway.

An occupant isn’t just getting a new apartment when they become a resident at Edison Terrace West, they have access to an onsite beauty salon, library, computer room, exercise room, laundry facility, and community room, with a full kitchen and new plasma TV, said Conway. There is also a Social Service Coordinator available to the residence. The building and grounds are accessible for handicapped persons as well.
